Cats use a variety of ways to communicate. Something to look out for are the tail, eyes and ears.
Basic rules
- Tail up – Cat is relaxed and most likely approachable.
- Tail down – Cat might be scared or threatened.
- Tail moving rapidly back and forth – Opposite to a dog a cat’s wagging tail is a good indicator that a cat is agitated and should be treated with caution
- Fluffed up-cat tail – Cat is scared or aggressive, attack mode!
You can tell a lot about cats by their ears, constantly moving around and always alert. But you need to be careful if they turn their ears back or sideways. This is a good indication of your cat feeling irritated, nervous or anxious.
